This year has certainly been one for the record books. From the COVID-19 outbreak and Saharan Desert dust storms to the exceptionally bad allergen year and being required to social distance and stay home, the quality of the air we breathe is gaining more attention.

Lately, we’ve had increased calls to our office inquiring if there’s an air purifier on the market that could kill the coronavirus.

Our Recommendation: iWave-R

While we haven’t found any research suggesting an unequivocal solution for killing the virus, our research does make us comfortable in recommending bipolar ionization air cleaning systems for improved air quality in your home.

Bipolar ionization technology helps to reduce:

  • Allergens/Pollen/Dander
  • Pathogens/Viruses/Bacteria
  • Odors/Smoke/Particles

While air purifiers won’t immediately kill the coronavirus, use of a system like iWave-R certainly reduces a wide variety of pathogens in the breathing zone and on hard non-porous surfaces.

When the iWave-R is installed, the air is pulled through your heater and A/C unit cleaning the air and should be combined with a MERV filter for maximum effectiveness. The iWave system creates a healthy environment without producing any harmful byproducts as found in other ionization systems and even has a 99.4% COVID-19/SARS germs.

Our Personal Experience

We suffer from severe seasonal allergies. We installed iWave-R in our home about two years ago to put it through our own test.

Since the installation of the air purifier, we’ve noticed that we rarely experience symptoms of our allergies. It’s almost like we don’t have allergies anymore! The only time we need to take our allergy medication is when we’re out and about.

With the COVID-19 precautions, we’ve been staying close to home. However, there are times we must go out and we are concerned.

The independent testing showing the significant reduction of pathogens when using our iWave system is reassuring to us. If something does happen, the virus won’t hang around long in our home.

We Can Help

The quality of the air you breathe in your home and business is important for your health and well-being.

The first line of defense is making sure you regularly change your filters. Clean filters not only catch particles in the air, they also keep your system running more efficiently. If you cannot remember when the last time your filters have been replaced, give us a call to schedule a system check.

If you’re looking to go one step further and install an air purifier, call our office and let’s schedule an estimate appointment to discuss a system that would best fit your needs.
